IN LOVING MEMORY OF
David James
Spencer
September 4, 1959 – May 7, 2022
David James Spencer, 62, of Traverse City, Michigan, passed away on the afternoon of May 7, 2022. He is survived by Karen, his loving and devoted wife of 34 years; four children in Charlie, Austin, Ian, and Sophie; his mother, Suzanne; and his four brothers and sisters, Dennis, Debbie, Doug, and Dottie. He was also a much-loved uncle to 15 nieces and nephews and their families
Born in Liberal, Kansas on September 4, 1959, to Darrell and Suzanne Spencer, Dave was the fifth of five children affectionately referred to as 'the five D's'.
Dave had a passion for life, family, friends, and all things with wheels. He was the definition of a wonderful husband, father, uncle, and friend. All who came into contact with Dave, be it a friend or a delivery driver dropping off parts at his home, could instantly sense he was a true gem of a man. Dave had a way of making people laugh like no one else could.
Dave's passion for automobiles, aviation, listening to the Foo Fighters, and all things mechanical were evident to all who knew him. A self-taught mechanical wizard, Dave was only a friendly phone call away to help fix whatever problem a family member, friend, or neighbor might have. He also loved being the loudest cheerleader on the sidelines at his kids' sporting events, playing ice hockey himself, and taking fishing trips to Canada with his brothers and dad. But it was always, and above all else, all about family for Dave. He relished the many accomplishments and young careers of his four children. His vibrant and engaging personality, his strength, his character, and his sense of humor will live though his family forever. We will miss you every day, Dave. God bless.
