David Scott Taylor, 56, of Interlochen, Michigan, passed away peacefully in the arms of his wife on August 7, 2026.

Service and Work

A proud veteran, devoted family man, and skilled craftsman, David lived with service in his bones, work ethic in his hands, and love for his family at the center of everything. He proudly served his country as a U.S. Army medic during the Gulf War, where his bravery, compassion, and sense of duty were more than ideals—they were how he showed up.

After his military service, David turned that same drive and precision toward entrepreneurship, running Taylor'd Painting alongside his beloved wife of 16 years, Bonnie. Together, they built a beautiful life, a successful business, and a close blended family—likely with David offering at least three “better ways” to do every job along the way.

Family

David was a devoted and deeply proud father to the five children: Adam (Annie), Keith (Cassie), Brooke (Alex), Alayna (Marcus), and Marley (Steven). His greatest joy was being a grandfather to Peyton, Eleanor, Adrian, and Beckett. Beckett, affectionately known to David as “Little Man,” was his special buddy, sidekick, and future partner in crime in the very best way. David also had an incredible imagination when it came to bedtime stories for the daughters, spinning tales of dragons, monkeys, and whatever else his wonderfully creative mind could dream up to help them drift off to sleep.

Passions and Personality

David enjoyed hunting, camping, NASCAR, Bonnie’s cooking, and watching Fox News—usually with strong opinions, perfect timing, and no shortage of commentary. He lived life fast and full, with an unforgettable “bull in a china shop” spirit, a heart turned toward Jesus, and a gift for making sure no room stayed boring for long.

He also loved mudding with his nephews, Jon and Don, in the “John Deere Jeep.” When things got deep—sometimes literally—David was the guy everyone counted on, earning himself the well-deserved title of “Pull-Out King” more than once.

He believed there was more than one way to do things—usually his way, explained loudly enough for everyone to benefit. He approached life with energy, humor, determination, and recently enjoyed the open road on a Harley in Florida with his best friends, Graham and Eric.

Those closest to David described him in one word that somehow all fit at once: lovable, joyful, accepting, everything, Superman, wonderful, friend, extraordinary, dedicated, outgoing, big, kind-hearted, happy, and—because accuracy matters—a goofball.

David’s stories, laughter, opinions, and unmistakable way of doing things will live on in every person lucky enough to have known and loved him. He leaves behind a family full of love, a lifetime of great stories, and more than a few people still shaking their heads and smiling. David will be deeply missed, loudly remembered, and forever loved by all who knew him. His presence was big, his heart was bigger, and the stories he left behind will only get better with time.

Survived By

David is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie; his parents, Dad Dave (Cindy) and Mom Ellen; his sisters, Christina and Kathy; his brothers, Roger and Brian (Celine); his brothers-in-law, Billy (Jen), Tony (Melissa), and Brian (Teresa); and many beloved nephews and nieces and one special little great Niece “Elle Bell” they all will no doubt continue telling “David stories” for years to come.

Special Friends David leaves behind a circle of very special friends, including Jo and Billie, Karen, Julie, George, Oliver Anthony, and Donald Trump, along with countless dear friends whose love, laughter, and memories will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew him.

Preceded in Death

David was preceded in death by his stepfather, John Dobson, and his in-laws, Bill and Barb Freeman.
