Mr. David Earl Thaler, age 74, of Hart, passed away Friday, May 31, 2013. He was born January 12, 1939, in Hart to Delos and Pearl (McCarty) Thaler. On August 12, 1972, in Hart, he married the former Ida Clark. He was employed at Oceana County Road Commission as a mechanic and district truck driver until his retirement in February 1999. David enjoyed taking photographs and tinkering in his garage.
David is survived by his wife, Ida Thaler of Hart; two daughters, Sue (Wade) Rozema of Idlewild and Cynthia Pryce of Scottville; five grandchildren; two sisters, Millie (Robert) Johnson of Shelby and Brenda (Freeman) Savage of Freeland, Michigan; two brothers, Robert Thaler of Muskegon and Joseph Thaler of Hart; several nieces and nephews; step-daughter, Echoel (Steve) Sayers of Berryville, Arkansas; and four step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Douglas Thaler and David Thaler II; step-son, Billy McLouth; two sisters, Ora Osborne and Jewel Wieber; brother, Don "Sparky"Thaler; and sister-in-law, Eloise Thaler.
The Funeral Service for Mr. Thaler will be Tuesday, June 4, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. from the King Funeral Home with Pastor Ryan Vander Zwaag officiating. Interment will be in the Hart Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the Oceana Historical and Genealogy Society 114 Dryden Street, Hart, MI 49420.
