Debra "Deb" Kay Pennington, 64, of North Muskegon, passed away on Friday, February 8, 2019, surrounded by her family. She was born on September 22, 1954, the daughter of John and Patsy Babbitt.

Deb married Larry Pennington in 1975. Together they raised three children and enjoyed 43 years of marriage. Deb taught elementary school at Muskegon Public Schools for over 30 years and loved the art of teaching her students. She delighted in celebrating every holiday with her family. Deb looked forward to many day trips to various quaint towns around our beautiful state. On one trip, the whole family piled into the Corvette and spent the weekend at Nickerson Inn savoring hot cocoa topped with whip cream. Family came first for Deb. She was a kind, generous, thoughtful, and respectful woman who will be deeply missed.

Deb is survived by: her husband, Larry; her children, Sarah, Larry (Shannon Deephouse), and Aaron (Stacey Salacina); her grandchildren, Ethan and Bryce; her brothers, Greg (Denise), Terry (Debbie), and Jeff (Lori) Babbitt; her aunt, Kay Abodeely; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Deb was preceded in death by: her parents; and her grandmothers, Elta Elliott and Doris Babbitt.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, February 19, 2019, at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service-White Lake Chapel, 413 S. Mears Avenue, Whitehall, Michigan 49461. Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM, Monday, February 18, 2019, at the funeral home.  Interment will take place at Laketon Township Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Kids Food Basket or to West Michigan Spay and Neuter Clinc.
