Dennis Cecil Smith Sr. of Grand Rapids, Michigan, age 71, a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend to many, passed away suddenly on January 22nd, 2024.

Born in Flint, MI in 1952 to Robert and Gloria, the family relocated to Williamsburg, MI where Dennis met his beloved wife Kathleen. During their lives together, they lived mostly in Traverse City, MI, spending several empty nest years in Naples, FL, before deciding to finally locate in Grand Rapids to be closer to family.

A man of unwavering devotion to his family and friends, Dennis cherished every moment spent with them.  His love for Kathleen was evident in the way he cared for her with tenderness and compassion throughout their nearly 55 years of marriage. They always cherished their beloved pets and enjoyed raising several together over the years.

One of Dennis's greatest joys was spending time outdoors during warm weather - whether it was golfing, camping, laughing at a BBQ or simply enjoying nature's beauty. He loved to escape the cold Michigan winters by heading south in search of new adventures. His appreciation for life's simple pleasures reflected his humble spirit and genuine warmth towards others.

Dennis is survived by his loving wife Kathleen; sons Dennis Jr. (Amelia) and Scott (Nancy); brother Robert (Susan); sisters Vicky (Joe) and Tina (David); as well as eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. His passing leaves an incredible void in the hearts of all who knew him.

The loss of Dennis has left a profound impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him. The memories created with him will be treasured always - from shared laughter to moments of quiet understanding that spoke volumes without words.

To honor Dennis's memory, memorial services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 3, 2024, at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, 312 Pine Street, Elk Rapids, Michigan  49629, with a luncheon to follow.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until time of services at the funeral home.
