Obituary

Denzil Emery Hepworth, age 88, of Hart, joined his Savior in heaven on Sunday, May 17, 2015. He was born October 7, 1926, in Riverton Township, Mason County to William and Rosie (Poore) Hepworth, Jr.
He graduated from Pentwater High School in December of 1944 after being drafted into the United States Army on his 18th birthday. He served his country in Manila, Philippines and was discharged in 1946. Denzil married Rosalie Grondsma November 12, 1949 and together they had four sons. She preceded him in death August 9, 1988. He then married his cousin Carole Harjes Lamb on September 3, 1989, and she preceded him in death on April 21, 2001. Denzil later married Genevieve Settler Duncan on January 26, 2002. She had been a long-time family friend and had also been a bridesmaid at his wedding to Rosalie. Genevieve preceded him in death on December 5, 2014. Denzil was a master craftsman and house builder / remodeler, building houses from Muskegon to Ludington and as far away as Lexington, VA., where he had the privilege of remodeling a Revolutionary War Era mansion. Most homes built were in the Pentwater area over his forty-five year career. He finally retired from building in 2004 after building his fourth residence on Monroe Road in Weare Township. Denzil was a member of First Baptist Church in Hart.
Denzil is survived by four sons: J. Randolph 'Randy' (Linda) Hepworth of Pentwater, Dr. Timothy Allen (Nancy) Hepworth of Mechanicsburg, PA, Geoffrey Denzil(Sheri) Hepworth of Montague, Bryan Scott (Debi) Hepworth of Pentwater; fourteen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren; three sisters, Helen Dougherty, Jewel (Dick) Brower, Katherine Belk; seven sisters-in-law, Mary Hepworth of Muskegon, Betty Hepworth of Ludington, Tootsie Hepworth of TX, Marian Hepworth of Montague, Cora Fielding of Pentwater, Alice Coon of CA, Jean Grondsma of Pentwater, many nieces, nephews, step children and extended family members. He is preceded in death by his parents, wives, and his siblings, Paul (Beryl), Ruth (Clare) Seaver, Franklin (Elveretta), Mildred Grant, Bertha (Wilfred) Smith, Floyd (Mary), Dorothy Ramsvig, Donald (Betty), Arnold, Jesse (Marian), Thomas, Wilma (Howard) VanHaitsma.

The Funeral Service for Mr. Hepworth will be Saturday, May 23, 2015, at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church of Hart. Interment will be in Pentwater Township Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at King Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Hart and again on Saturday one hour prior to the service at church.
