Obituary

DeWayne Edward Skoog, 81, of Ludington, died Friday, May 17, 2019, at Oakview Medical Care Facility.  He was born July 1, 1937, in Ludington, the son of Warner "Pep" and Genevieve (Caffrey) Skoog.

DeWayne owned and operated D. Skoog Heating and Sheet Metal, in Ludington, for 30 years until retiring in 2000.  He was a member of the Eagles Lodge and the Moose Lodge in Ludington.   He was also a member and past president of the Mason County Snowmobile Association.  DeWayne loved snowmobiling, going fishing on the big lake, hunting and spending time on his boat.  DeWayne was an avid Detroit Tigers and Lions Fan.  Throughout his school years and after, DeWayne enjoyed playing basketball and the competitiveness of it.

DeWayne is survived by: his children, Theresa Blackburn of Ludington, Diana Lachman of Howard City, Michael (Susan) Skoog of Ludington and Debra (Richard) Plowe of Ludington; his step-daughter, Sherri Lubas of Venice, Florida; his sister, Carol Baker of Caladonia; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

DeWayne was preceded in death by: his 2 nd wife, Joan Skoog in 2015; his daughter, Sarah Giles; 2 sisters, Barb and Cathy; and his brother, James.

A Celebration of DeWayne's life will be held from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 1, 2019 at Pere Marquette Township Hall.
