IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Don "Donnie"
Anthony Steier
December 17, 1956 – July 22, 2022
Don "Donnie" Anthony Steier, 65, of Kingsley, passed away peacefully in the arms of his sister Mary Ann Valentino on July 22, 2022.
Donnie was born on December 17, 1956 in Detroit to parents Ruby Jean and Anton Steier (deceased) and sisters Linda (deceased) and Mary Ann. Donnie accepted his many challenges and carried his cross, smiling with dignity and love. Donnie radiated joy and love and illuminated the goodness in others. He touched the hearts of everyone who knew him. Donnie was known for his trademark happy face drawings, his collection of shoelaces and cassettes, and his ability to connect deeply with others. Donnie had a kind soul filled with the Holy Spirit. Donnie loved working at Grand Traverse Industries (GTI) and attending church. Donnie enjoyed going to the beach, camping, and bowling. Donnie had a special fondness for babies, buses, Christmas trees, and pie.
Donnie became known as silly Uncle Donnie, developing special relationships and nicknames with each of his nieces and nephews: Diane (Ed) Chevillot (Erica, Nicholas); Julie (Bill) Jordan (Blake, Luke); Jennifer Barnaby (Summer, Abby); Michael Donhost (River, Matilda, Gretel); Nicholas (Tara) Valentino (Cecilia), Merilee Valentino, Adam Valentino, and Danté Valentino (Ashley, Cruz). Uncle Donnie's legacy will continue to be a ray of sunshine in their lives.
The family would like to thank GTI, the Benton House, and Promedica Hospice for their wonderful care. The staff and friends at GTI and Benton House were like extended family and surrounded our beloved Donnie with love and support.
Mass from the Order of Christian Funerals will be celebrated at 11:00AM, Tuesday, August 2, 2022, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, in Traverse City, with the Reverend Don Geyman celebrant. Visitation will be held from 10:00AM until the service on the same day.
