Obituary

Don Richard Johnson was no ordinary man.  He was a kind, caring, intellectual, dedicated family man, devoted husband and father, and a hero to his wife and daughter. He never met a stranger. Anyone who ever met him never forgot him.

Don graduated from Whitehall High School then earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in chemistry from Michigan State University. Following his graduation from MSU, he was hired by Parke-Davis as a Research Scientist in Research and Development. In Don's 36 year career he was instrumental in developing medications as Atorvastatin and Gabapentin. The company became Warner – Lambert and then Pfizer during his employment. Don was a perfectionist in all he did. He believed in doing things the right way the first time.

Don enjoyed fly fishing, even tying his own flies; classical and jazz music were his favorites, but could appreciate all types of music.

Don enjoyed traveling all over the world for his career and shared the trips with his devoted wife, Penny. Don enjoyed spending time with family and friends.  He was the kind of man who could talk to anyone about any subject imaginable.

Don died in the presence of his family, very much at peace.

Don was survived by: his loving wife of 60 years, Penny Kay (Haas) Johnson; daughter, Kimberly Kay Johnson; and brother, Greg Johnson.

Don was preceded in death by: his parents, Howard and Ruby Johnson.

In accordance with Don's wishes, cremation has taken place and no services will be held at this time.

Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, White Lake Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
