Donald Gene Armstrong, 81, of Whitehall, passed away Friday, May 10, 2024. He was born April 20, 1943, in Muskegon, the son of Thomas and Mildred (Hain) Armstrong.

Don graduated from Whitehall High School, in 1965. Don became the third generation to carry on the legacy of Armstrong Bait & Sport Shop, which he owned for 51 years. Don retired in 2016, to which his daughter & son-in-law (Vicky & Matthew Dalrymple) stepped in as the fourth generation.

Don never felt like he was at work at the bait & hobby shop. He enjoyed being surrounded by customers with like interests who enjoyed the same hobbies. Don spent many years racing R/C boats, cars, and airplanes. He also enjoyed Sunday motorcycle trips with friends.

Donald is survived by: his daughter, Vicky (Matthew) Dalrymple; his three grandsons, Alec, Logan, and Paton; his sister, Marlene Windbacher; and his beloved dog, Mickey.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas & Mildred (Hain) Armstrong and his brother, Thomas Armstrong Jr.

In accordance with Donald's wishes, cremation has taken place and no services will be held at this time.

Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, White Lake Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
