Donald “Donnie” Lawrence Martin, 53, of Ludington, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, April 22, 2026, after post-surgery complications. He was born December 14, 1972, in Ludington, the son of George Martin Jr. and Janice (Rutowski) Martin.

Donnie grew up in the 4th ward where Copeyon Park was a favorite hangout. He attended Ludington High School and afterwards went to work at Tru Trac for 10 years, followed by a few years at Whitehall Industries, and lastly at FloraCraft for over 10 years. In his spare time Donnie enjoyed watching the Detroit Lions and NASCAR, kayaking, hunting, fishing, singing karaoke, listening to music and hanging with his friends.

Donnie is survived by: his mother, Janice L. Martin; his sister, Denise (Neil) Sanford; his half-brother, Kyle Martin; his step-mother, Tracey Martin; his nephews, Nelson Sanford and Trenton (Kalana) Sanford; his great-niece, Audi Sanford; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Donnie was preceded in death by: his father, George Martin Jr.; his maternal grandparents, Donald and Patricia Rutowski; and his paternal grandparents, George Martin Sr. and Freada Nickelson.

Cremation has taken place and according to his wishes no services will be held at this time.
