Mr. Donald 'Ed" Edward Thaler, age 57, of Shelby, passed away on Wednesday, February 18, 2015. He was born March 23, 1957, in Hart to Donald and Eloise (Hodges) Thaler. Ed proudly served his country in the United States Marines; he married Penelope "Penny" Smith on August 13, 1990, at the Hart Congregational Church; and was employed by Tridonn Construction as a masonry supervisor. He is survived by his wife, Penny Thaler; children, Jamie (Steve) Lawrence, Wendy (Tim) Cluchey, and Max (Christina) Saunders; granddaughters, Tara & Christa Cluchey; sisters, Dawn (Phil Wirt) Thaler, and Diane (Doug) Pretty; brother, Delos (Arlene) Thaler; father & mother-in-law, Phillip (Jeanne) Smith; brother-in-law, David (Lisbeth) Smith; sister-in-law, Pam (Ron) Pickard along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts & uncles. Ed is preceded in death by his parents. A time of visitation with family will take place on Tuesday, February 24, 2015, from 4-6 p.m. at the King Funeral Home in Hart. There will be a military service immediately following the visitation at the funeral home.
