Donald "Donnie" R. Erving, 84, of Traverse City, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 24, 2022, surrounded by his family.

Donnie owned Great Lakes Builders and built many beautiful homes in the Traverse City area. He was a hard worker who passed on his strong work ethic to his children. Donnie had a great sense of humor and was the source of many a practical joke.

He was a sports enthusiast who loved bowling in particular. Donnie was part of the inaugural 2000 induction for the Bowling Hall of Fame. He traveled to professional bowling competitions across the country and rolled numerous 300 games. Donnie was also a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Interlochen.

He is survived by: his significant other, Carole Ann Kolleth; his sister, Carol Adamisin; his children, Dan (Rebekah) Erving, Michael Erving, and Jody (Erving) Coates; his grandchildren, Angie (Erving) & Alton Everett Jr., Shawn (Ashleigh) Erving, Sarah (Paul) Wilcoxen, Joanne (Karl) Fritz, Adam (Casey) Erving, Andrew (Brandi) Erving, Christan Coates, Seth (Sandy) Coates, and Shane (Maria) Coates; and his great-grandchildren, Logan, Brooklyn, Dominic, Lily, Cozette, Scarlett, Brook, Zachery, Justeen, Micaela, Maria, Malakai, Nathaniel, Scarlit, Lillie, and Noah.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, Raymond & Carolyn Erving; and his son and daughter-in-law, Tony & Deanna Erving.

He will be greatly missed.

Family and friends are invited to his Memorial Service at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 2, 2022, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Interlochen, Michigan. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
