Donald Jerome Hipley, 83, of Pentwater, passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2011, at Memorial Medical Center of Ludington, surrounded by his family.
He was born on August 6, 1927, in Weare Township, son of the late John and Bertha Brunk-Hipley. He served in the United States Army from 1945 – 1947 for a tour of duty in Hawaii. Donald married Beatrice Terryn on October 21, 1950, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Donald worked for the Hart Lumber Company and then later retiring from Miller Brothers Oil Company.
Donald is survived by his wife, Beatrice Hipley of Pentwater; daughters, Kathy (David) Hood of Hart and Kristy (Ken) Adams of Pentwater; four grandchildren, Angie Hood of Pentwater, Jaime (Lee) Lindsay of Lawton, Josh (Nikki) Adams of Pentwater, and Jake Adams of Pentwater. Donald was also blessed with two great-grandchildren, Aubrie Adams of Pentwater and Landon Lindsay of Lawton. Donald also left behind his special canine companion, Brandi. Additional surviving family is a sister, Cecelia Holmes, of Eaton Rapids.
Donald will be best remembered by his acts of kindness towards everyone he encountered throughout his life.
The family will welcome friends and family Sunday, July 24, 2011, from 2-5 p.m. for visitation at King Funeral Home, where the Rosary will be prayed at 4:30 p.m. The concelebrated Mass of the Christian Burial will be offered at St. Vincent Catholic Church in Pentwater, Monday, July 25, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Phillip Sliwinski and Fr. Anton Tran. Interment will be at North Weare Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to special projects at St. Vincent Catholic Church of Pentwater.
