Donald George Mason, 61, of Whitehall, passed away Wednesday October 4, 2017. Don was born on February 5, 1956 to James Sr. and Blanch Havlik Mason.
Don could always be found outdoors. He enjoyed gardening, landscaping and long walks with his dog. He also loved music and had an extensive rock & roll collection. He was a big sports fan, especially following the Red Wings.
Don had deep roots in the White Lake community. He was a descendant of pioneer lumberman Peter Dalton, early Montague businessman George H. Mason and was proud to have lived his entire life on the Havlik family homestead in Whitehall.
Don is survived by his mother, Blanch; siblings, Mary Lynn (Jim Barton) Mason, Jack (Pamela) Mason, Peggy (Don Plumton) Mason, Kevin (Marcia) Mason and younger brother, Jeff Mason; nieces, Sarah, Katherine, Paige and Hailey; and nephews, Peter, Ryan, Gregory, Gavin, Glendon, Michael and Kyle.
He was preceded in death by his father, James E .Mason Sr.; and oldest brother, James E. Mason Jr.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Saturday, October 7, 2017, at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service – White Lake Chapel, 413 S. Mears Ave. Whitehall, MI 49461 with Pastor Helen Havlik officiating. Visitation will take place on Friday from 5-7 PM at the funeral home and also 1 hour prior to the start of the service on Saturday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Dirt Dauber Garden Club P.O. Box 121 Montague MI 49437.
