Mr. Donald Joseph Sladick, age 81, of Ludington, passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2016, at Spectrum Health-Ludington Hospital in Ludington. He was born September 5, 1935, in Detroit to Albert and Josephine (Moultrip) Sladick. Donald received his Bachelor's Degree in business from the University of Detroit. Having just celebrated their 58 th wedding anniversary, Don married the former Carol Dery on July 12, 1958 at St. James Catholic Church in Ferndale, Michigan. He was employed for 35 years in the customer service department with General Motors until his retirement in 1987. He was an avid Detroit Tiger Baseball fan. Don was active in many civic organizations and causes, including the Ludington Rotary Fountain Project and St. James Catholic Church in Ferndale, Michigan. He was also a part of the General Motors Fellows Hunting Group. Don loved his children and grandchildren and was an avid follower of their school and sporting events.
Donald is survived by his wife: Carol Sladick of Ludington, two daughters: Jodie Monahan of Rochester and Lisa (Jeff) Bonello of Huntington Woods, five sons: Kurt (Randi) Sladick of Pinckney, Bruce (Karen) Sladick of Birmingham, AL, Mark (Claudia) Sladick of Birmingham, MI, Paul (Abbie) Sladick of Naples, FL and Jon Sladick of Royal Oak, and nine grandchildren: Zachary Sladick, Maggie Sladick, Jylian Monahan, Sarah Sladick, Hana Sladick, Jack Sladick, Gian Bonello, Francesca Bonello, and Allesandra Bonello. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Larry and Thomas Sladick, and sisters: Marian Dalziel and Shirley Sladick.
The Mass of the Resurrection for Mr. Sladick will be offered Monday, September 12, 2016, at 11:00 am at St. Simon Catholic Church in Ludington with Father Wayne B. Wheeler Jr. presiding. A time of visitation will be held Sunday from 2-5 pm at King Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Ludington, with a Prayer Vigil being held 4:30 pm, and Monday one hour prior to the service at St. Simon Catholic Church, 702 East Bryant Road, Ludington, MI. The family requests that any memorials be directed to Help Ministries, 910 E. Tinkham, Ludington, MI 49431 or a charity of choice.Visitation
