Donna Stanton was born on March 31, 1935, in Chicago, Illinois, to Harry and Margaret Chinberg and died on August 10, 2021, in Leland, Michigan.  Donna grew up in Kenilworth IL attending New Trier High School where she met her husband of 63 years, Terry Stanton. Together they attended Miami of Ohio University, married, and raised four children in Northbrook and Lake Forest, Illinois.

All her life, Donna was a dynamo. She played competitive tennis, cut the grass, cleaned the gutters, worked on the sorting line at the family cherry orchard in Lake Leelanau, walked the dog at least three miles a day…and still had time to smile and chat with anyone she met along the way.  Donna also enjoyed a successful mid-life career in modeling and had a speaking role in the movie "Ordinary People."

There were no limits to her loyalty and devotion to her family, including flying across the Atlantic to make a clandestine rescue of her ailing college-age son from an Italian hospital.

Donna is survived by: her children Karen (Tom Andreoni) of Piedmont California, Curt (Pam) Stanton of Lake Forest, Illinois, Todd Stanton of San Diego, California, Greg Stanton of Lake Leelanau; as well as 10 loving grandchildren and one great-grandson. Donna was preceded in death by her parents Harry and Margaret Chinberg, her sister Barbara Bonesteel and her husband Terry Stanton.

Our family wishes to thank Sharon Plamondon and all the loving caregivers at "Effie's Place" in Leland for their sweet care of Donna in her last year.

A celebration of life is planned for Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at Leland United Methodist Church, 106 Fourth St, Leland, MI.  49654 at 1:00 P.M.
