Donna Elaine (Seiwell) Vogue, 83, of Kingsley, Michigan passed away on July 1. She was born January 7, 1943 in Dearborn, MI to Arnim and Anna Seiwell.
Donna graduated from Edsel Ford High School in Dearborn in 1960. After a year working as a nurse's aide to save money for secretarial school, she decided to attend nursing school at Highland Park General Hospital, where she graduated in 1964. While in Traverse City, Michigan, doing her psych training at the Traverse City State Hospital, she met Chum Vogue at Brooks Bar. After a few dates, Chum proposed. Donna finished her schooling in Dearborn (ask Chum how quickly he could make the drive) and they were married on September 12, 1964. In their 61 years of marriage, they raised two children, enjoyed vacations all over the country, and spent lots of time playing cards with friends and family. Donna was proud of being a nurse at Munson Medical Center for over 30 years. Over 20 of those years were in the Emergency Room. She loved telling current nurses at Munson what the "old ER was like." She retired after 33 years and enjoyed keeping up with her nursing friends throughout her life.
Growing up, she spent many years as a dancer, primarily tap dance and dancing with partners. She traveled all over southern Michigan and Allentown, PA, performing in numerous local TV programs. She even met some of her favorite celebrities dancing in Atlantic City in the summers.
Donna was an active member of the Kingsley United Methodist Church. Donna loved being part of the worship committee, picking out the hymns for each Sunday service. She loved attending women's retreats, Bible study groups, and being the liturgist.
Donna is survived by her husband, Chum Vogue, children, Julie (Robert) Lint, Jeff Vogue; grandchildren, Emily (Kyle) Griffin, Becky (Stephen) Miller, Charlie Lint; 3 great-grandchildren, Vera and Clark Miller, and Henry Griffin. Also, brothers-in-law, Bob McCarry and Rich Vogue, sisters-in-law, Bev Harrison, June McCarry, and Anne Vogue, numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arnim and Anna Seiwell, beloved grandparents, half-sister Michelle Seiwell, and brother-in-law Thayle Harrison.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A celebration of life will be held at the Kingsley United Methodist Church on Tuesday, July 7, at 11 am, with visitation at 10 am. A luncheon will follow immediately after the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Donna's memory to the Kingsley United Methodist Church or The Rock of Kingsley.
Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, Covell-Kingsley Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
