Donna Marie Walicki, 79, of Pentwater, passed away Friday, November 2, 2018, at Mercy Health Partners Mercy Campus in Muskegon. She was born August 25, 1939, in Detroit, the daughter of Edward and Catherine (Celenack) Salancy.

Donna earned her nursing degree from Mt. Carmel Mercy Hospital in 1960.  On June 28, 1963, she married Lawrence J. Walicki.  Her nursing career took her from serving at hospitals in the Detroit area to finally settling at Oceana Hospital in Hart in 1980. She enjoyed working the emergency room and would often ride the ambulance on serious transfers.  Donna retired from active nursing at the Oceana County Medical Care Facility in the spring of 2016, but still maintained her nursing license until her death.

Donna was a former 4-H Leader teaching kids how to cake decorate and later became the local MSU extension cookie baker.  In her free time, Donna loved to bake and would willingly provide cookies, brownies or pies for whoever asked.  She was the "official team cookie baker" for the family softball team.  Aside from baking, she also enjoyed knitting, crocheting and crafts.

Donna is survived by: her daughter, Kathryn "Frank" Walicki of Pentwater; her sons, James "Pokey" (Robin) Walicki of Pentwater, Lawrence "Jay" (Brenda) Walicki of Ludington and Thomas "Tucker" (Melanie) Walicki of Pentwater; her daughter-in-law, Kirsten (Gary) Noe of Howell; her grandchildren, Ashley (Bill Dean) Walicki, Kyle (Mary) Walicki, Lauren Walicki, Jordyn (Jeff Oom) Walicki, Chelsi Walicki, Austin Walicki, Andrew Walicki, Meghan (Robert) Greiner, Matthew Walicki and Amanda Walicki; her great-grandchildren, Destiny, Jacob and 3 on the way; her sisters, Joyce Salancy of  Dearborn, and Bev (Bruce) Gates of Sheridan and her beloved dog, Bailey.

Donna was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Lawrence; her son, Edward; and her grandson, James.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at the Pentwater VFW Hall, 8440 Bus. U.S 31, Pentwater, MI from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Goodfellows of Pentwater, the Oceana County 4-H Youth Programs or a charity of one's choice.
