May 25, 1919 – February 14, 2019
Dorothy Mae Gunberg, 99, of Ludington, passed away Thursday, February 14, 2019, at Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital. She was born May 25, 1919, in Ludington.
Dorothy graduated from St. Simon's School and remained an active member of St. Simon's where she served in the Altar Society and the Catholic Daughters. Dorothy worked at Montgomery Ward for 20 years. In her spare time, Dorothy enjoyed spending winters in Florida where she was able to swim in the Gulf of Mexico, riding motorcycles with her husband, and playing cards and bingo.
Dorothy is survived by: her children, JoAnn Davis of Ventura, California, Robert (Carol) Gunberg of Princeton, Illinois, Richard (Loretta) Gunberg of Ludington, and Bruce (Bonnie) Gunberg of Ludington; 9 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
On October 7, 1935, Dorothy married Raymond Gunberg who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by: her parents, George and Toni (Okoniewski) Albrecht; her sister, Elizabeth Barton; her step-brother, Raymond Boertman; 2 granddaughters, Susan Davis and Nancy Gunberg; and her great-granddaughter, Amanda Gunberg.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 PM, Wednesday, February 20, 2019, at St. Simon Catholic Church, Ludington, with Father Wayne B. Wheeler presiding. Interment will be in the Pere Marquette Catholic Cemetery in the spring. Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 19, 2019, from 4-6 PM at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, Pere Marquette Chapel, 309 S. Washington Avenue, Ludington.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Simon's Catholic Daughters.
