Dorothy Jensen, 97, of Ludington, passed away Monday, August 13, 2018, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 4, 1921, in Ludington, the daughter of Nels and Serene (Petersen) Lund.
Dorothy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and foster mother to over 100 children. She was an active member of Bethany Lutheran Church where she had attended her entire life. Dorothy was also a member and past president of Church Women United, and a member of the Danish Sisterhood. For many years, Dorothy volunteered at the Mason County Health Department Well Baby Clinic. In her spare time, Dorothy enjoyed working in her garden and reading, especially Harlequin romance novels. Most of all, Dorothy loved spending time with her family.
Dorothy is survived by: her children, Robert (Sue) Jensen of Ludington, Mike (Michele) Jensen of Ludington, Greg Jensen of White Cloud, Bruce (Donna) Genia of Scottville and Kathy Jensen of Ludington; her daughter-in-law, Pat Jensen of Grosse Pointe Woods; 17 grandchildren, including her eldest granddaughter and caregiver, Shelly Wells; 27 great-grandchildren with 1 on the way; 1 great-great-grandson; her sister, Florence Cabot of Ludington; her brother, Jack (Kay) Lund of Ludington, her sister-in-law, Margie Lund of Ludington; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Dorothy was preceded in death by: her husband, Earl Golden Jensen in 2002; her son, Gary Jensen; her son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Diane Jensen; 3 sisters, Agnes Hansen, Evelyn Pedersen and Irene Larsen; and 2 brothers, Louis Lund and Nels Lund.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, August 17, 2018, at Grace Episcopal Church, in Ludington, with Pastor Bill Huether officiating. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 10:00 AM until time of services at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Bethany Lutheran Church General Fund or Hospice of Michigan.
