Mrs. Dorothy Marie Kubon, age 96, of Hart, passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2016, at Cherry Blossom Manor in Hart. She was born March 13, 1920, in Pentwater to Thomas and Carrie (Freeland) Lynn. She attended Crystal Valley School and on May 23, 1942 in Whitehall, Dorothy married Russell Emil Kubon. They were married fifty-five years before his passing on August 24, 1997. Dorothy was a homemaker and farmer her entire life on the family farm her and Russell built together. She enjoyed working on the farm, gardening, canning, baking, especially the family favorites, which were her pies. She enjoyed camping with her family and spending family time together with everyone and also wrote her own autobiography. She was an all- around sweet lady. Dorothy is survived by one son, Jeffrey Kubon; three daughters, Harriet (Tom VanBergen) Shafer, Carol Babb, and Phyllis (Jerry) Veverka; seven grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, four great-great grandsons; nine sisters: Edith Smith - Kokx, Shirley Gulleff, Bonnie (Jerry) Gotwalt, Kathleen (Ron) Guenhardt, Sharon Whitaker, Denise (Dennis) Knudsen, Cora Fielding, Jackie Pfishner, Alice Coon and three brothers, Clarence (Marie) Lynn, Dennis (Barb) Lynn and Garth 'Butch' Lynn. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Russell; brothers, Bill, Bob, Tom, Gary, John, Nick; sisters, Grace, Brenda, Margaret, Rosalie, Betty; granddaughter, Jean Shafer-Cox; great-grandchildren, Heather, Matthew and Jessica. The funeral service for Mrs. Kubon will be Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at 11:00 am at King Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Hart with Pastor Mike Joseph officiating. Interment will take place at Mount Ulysses Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday one hour prior to the service at King Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Hart.
