IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Douglas Wayne
Nichols
February 23, 1945 – August 28, 2024
Douglas Wayne Nichols, 79, of Whitehall, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 28, 2024. He was born February 23, 1945, in Shelby, Michigan, the son of Bill and Dorothy (Ramthun) Nichols.
Doug was always up for a good time and eloped with his partner in crime, Judy Bunda, on December 16, 1967. To the end, Doug enjoyed riding his Harley, playing pool and cards, and having drinks with friends. For many years, he also enjoyed big lake fishing on his boat and racing motorcycles.
Doug was a hard worker and provider for his family. He had a long career of driving truck long haul across 48 states. Later, not being one to retire, he worked for White Lake Excavating, for several more years.
Doug will be greatly missed by his children, Jodi Nichols and Holli (Anthony) Gomez; grandchildren, Derek Gomez, Drake Gomez, and Bella Ghezzi; his great-granddaughter, Vivian Gomez; his big sister, Sandy King, his fat cat, Ginger; sisters in-law and brothers in-law; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Doug was preceded in death by: his wife of 45 years, Judith Nichols; mother, Dorothy Raschke; father, Bill Nichols; brothers, Darry (Butch) and Dennis Nichols; mother in-law, Betty Bunda, father in-law, John Bunda, sister in-law, Susan Orlando; nephew, Jesse Nichols; and several good friends.
It was Doug's wish to simply buy a last round for friends and family as a final Celebration of his Life. Those who have enjoyed a drink with Doug in the past are encouraged to stop into the Whitehall American Legion, 803 E Colby St, Whitehall, MI 49461, Sunday, September 8, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, wearing their favorite Harley shirt if they have one.
Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, White Lake Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
