Duane (Skip) Henry Egeler, age 60, of Whitehall, passed away Saturday, December 16, 2023. Skip was born in Muskegon on May 23, 1963, the son of Richard and Harriett (Bogner) Egeler.

Skip graduated from Fruitport High School in 1981. After graduating, he went on to proudly serve our country in the United States Navy. Upon returning home Skip did mostly carpentry work, joining the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America.

Skip enjoyed the outdoors, spending most of his life hunting and fishing. His love for the outdoors was so strong he was determined to pass it on to his nephews. Later in life he extended that love for the outdoors to chain saw carving and drone flying. His carvings were amazing and the pictures he took of the wilderness and flags flying high with his drones were breathtaking.

Skip is survived by: his brother, Rick (Patti) Egeler; his sisters, Pat Egeler, Chris Wellman, Kathy (Mark) Olson, Laura Nummerdor, and Annette (Mike Niva) Aldridge; He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, Eric (Jennifer) Egeler, Rick (Kate) Egeler, Andrea (Eric) Nichols, Paul (Sarah) Stoddard, Kelly (Brett) Weber, Mark (Stephanie Miles) Olson, Lisa (Dylan) Helferich, Kali (Dean Glenzer) Nummerdor, Jack (Megan) Nummerdor, Adam (Brittany) Aldridge, Carly (Steve Hemric) Aldridge, and Autumn Egeler.

Skip was proceeded in death by: his parents; and brothers, Gene Egeler, Jack Nummerdor, and Mark Egeler.

A respectful celebration will be planned and discussed after the holiday season.

Memorials to NAMI (National Alliance of Mental Health) or Fruitport Grads Give Back will be appreciated.
