Edward Allen Miller, Walkerville, peacefully passed away April 17, 2018 from malignant melanoma.  His positive attitude and humor stayed with him to the end.  He was born May 29, 1950 to Ava and Helen Miller in Muskegon and moved to Walkerville when he was 9 years old.  He was raised on a farm and continued to love farming all his life.

Ed was a Veteran of Vietnam where he served two tours in the US Marine Corps.  After his honorable discharge Ed began his 39 year career with the U. S. Forest Service in 1972 working part-time planting pine trees and working his way up and finally retiring as a Federal Law Enforcement Officer with the Forest Service.  He shared many stories and experiences as a wildland fire fighter throughout the United States.  Ed was highly regarded by his peers.  After his retirement, he continued to work for a couple years as a correction officer at GEO in Baldwin.  He enjoyed all things outdoors, hunting, fishing, mushrooming and even working. He and Peggy enjoyed vacationing in the UP and visiting casinos. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.  We will miss him.

He is survived by: his wife of 23 years, Peggy; son, Russell (Misty); step-son, Joseph Molengraff; step-daughter, Jessica Carlson (Jake Erickson); grandchildren, Helen, Grace, Isaac and Jacob Miller;  step-grandchildren, Jack Bernethy and Christian Wood; sister-in-law, Lisa (Harv) Scholtens; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by: his son, Eric; parents, Ava and Helen Miller; brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Harriett Robbins; and sister, Mona Ayers.

A very special thanks to nephew David Robbins and cousin Gary Williamson for their daily visits and support.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 21, 2018, at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, King-Hart Chapel, 2370 N. 72 ^nd Avenue, Hart, with Pastor Jeff Lemire officiating.  Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery, in Walkerville, at a later date.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home Friday from 5-7 PM and Saturday from 1:00 PM until time of services.

Memorial contributions may be made to Crystal Valley Care Fund.
