Mrs. Elaine Pearl Avery, age 84, of Hart, passed away Saturday, May 9, 2015. She was born October 1, 1930, in Muskegon to Howard and Pearl (Ramthun) Davey. She graduated from Montague High School in the Class of 1948. She married Valois Avery on June 4, 1949 at St. James Catholic Church in Montague, and they were married thirty-seven years before his passing on December 19, 1986. Elaine was employed as a cook at Charlevoix Public Schools until her retirement in 1992. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Charlevoix. She enjoyed dancing, bowling, knitting, camping and traveling. Elaine also enjoyed socializing with whom she met. She also volunteered at St. Mary Catholic School and the Rainbow Shop, both in Charlevoix.
Elaine is survived by three daughters: Barbara (Robert) Williams of AZ, Linda (Ed Germaine) Hall of AZ, Joan Brown of Knoxville, TN; six sons: Alan (Cathy) Avery of Japan, Thomas (Danielle) Avery of VA, Christopher (Diana) Avery of Hart, Bruce (Sally) Avery of CA, Donald Avery of TX, Patrick (Siiri Beth) Avery of Charlevoix; twenty-six grandchildren; forty-five great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Lila Wentzloff of Whitehall, Evelyn Anthony of Shelby; and sister-in-law, Arlene (Don) Bromley of Whitehall. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Valois Avery; son, Joseph Avery on March 31, 2015; granddaughter, Teresa Seese; two brothers, Melvin Davey, and Ronald Davey.
The Memorial Service for Mrs. Avery will be Thursday, May 14, 2015, at 11:00 am at King Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Hart with Father Wayne B. Wheeler Jr. officiating. Interment will take place at St. Mary Cemetery in Charlevoix. Visitation will be Thursday one hour prior to the service at the King Funeral Home in Hart.
