Obituary

Elaine Marie MacEachern, 83, of Rothbury, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2023. Elaine was born October 11, 1939, to William David and Margaret (Zillich) Goldsworthy, at Deaconess Hospital in Detroit. Elaine was a 1957 graduate of Allen Park High School, continued her education in Detroit, and then at Henry Ford Community College, in Dearborn, during her employment at Ford Motor Company.

In her 20's, Elaine was married for roughly 8 years; in that time she was blessed with her daughter. She worked for Ford Motor Company as an Executive Secretary in Dearborn. Elaine often took her daughter to work with her on the weekends and sat her down on a typewriter to "work." Many of her closest friends were made at Ford, or as she called it, "Fords." Elaine eventually left for medical retirement.

Elaine always kept in touch up until the end with some of her closest friends from Allen Park, and on Larme St. where she grew up. She had a large collection of pen pals, about 32 of them. Elaine even traveled to visit some of them, including a trip to Wales and Scotland. She loved to travel and collect mementos. Elaine traveled to Florida for many years, and especially loved going to the Florida Keys with her family.

During the last half of the 1980's and beyond, Elaine spent much of her time babysitting and making life-long friends with some of the parents. She cherished taking care of those little ones very much, for all the years she was able.

Elaine lived in Dearborn Heights for most of her life until moving to West Michigan to be with her daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren. She bought a home with a pool, and swimming and soaking in the sunshine were her greatest passions. Elaine also enjoyed crocheting, and was a proud member of the Red Hat Club.

In her later years, Elaine loved spending time with her grandchildren, and attending their sports and events. With the help of her daughter and family she discovered farm animals, rescue dogs, and learned that she especially loved the farm life. Elaine eventually moved in with her daughter's family and enjoyed contributing to farm chores well into her last year of life.

Elaine is survived by: her daughter, Melissa (Jeffrey) Olstrom; granddaughter, Piper Laine Olstrom; grandson, Graysen William Olstrom; sister, Nancy (Goldsworthy) Muschott; and nephew, Eric Muschott.

Elaine was preceded in death by: her parents, William David and Margaret (Zillich) Goldsworthy; and her brother-in-law, Barney Muschott.
