Obituary

Elaine Christine Morse, 85, went to be home with the Lord, the morning of March 25, 2024.

She was born November 29, 1938 in Detroit, the eighth of nine children to Thomas and Julia (Selke) Pietrangelo.  She spent her youth in Detroit, attended the Patronage of St Joseph School, and later worked at Detroit Edison (DTE) in downtown Detroit.  Elaine married Donald H. Morse in 1961 after meeting him in Florida during a trip with a friend. They lived in Warren, until in 1972, she moved to the countryside of Northern Michigan with him and daughter Trisha, just west of the little town of Maple City, remaining in the family home for 52 years.

After Donald's untimely death in 1977, she remained committed to staying in her home, becoming a strong and independent mother.  In addition to being a homemaker, wife and mother, Elaine was a secretary for a local realtor and school, student at Northwest Michigan College, township zoning board member, and a computer programmer for Lakes States Insurance in Traverse City.

She loved to read, sometimes reading an entire novel in one day.  She also liked to cook, attend her flowers and plants in the yard, and enjoyed the outdoors.

Elaine is survived by her daughter, Trisha Morse, sister Marlene (Bolduc), many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband Donald; parents; brothers Jerome, Tom, and Alfred Pietrangelo; sisters Rose (Hoffman), Rita (Ross), Mary (Stawarz), and Julia (Wirgau).

At her request, there will not be a funeral, and after cremation, will be buried next to Donald at the Rose Hill Cemetery near her home sometime in the late spring.

Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, Covell-Traverse City Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
