Obituary

Eleanor Elizabeth Jackson, 87, of Montague, passed away Friday, July 31, 2020, at home.  She was born October 10, 1932, in Utica, Illinois, the daughter of Charles and Grace (Hannah) VanBrocklin.

Eleanor graduated from Whitehall High School in the class of 1950.  A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Eleanor loved spending time with her family and listening to Bluegrass music.  She also enjoyed camping, reading, painting and needlework, and being a Detroit Tigers fan.  Eleanor loved making people laugh by joking with them and "picking" on them to get them to open up.

Eleanor is survived by: her children, Linda (Chris) Sluyter of Whitehall, Anetta Lohman of Montague, William (Meri) Jackson of Twin Lake, and Sue Barrett of Rothbury, Tom Jackson of Montague, David Jackson of Florida, Shelly (Kevin) Hanke of Montague, and Rita (Robert) McConaughy of Montague; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; her brother, Hank VanBrocklin of Salinas, California; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Eleanor was preceded in death by: her husband, William A. Jackson Jr. in 2009; her sister, Marybelle Rager; and 3 brothers, Charles, Harold and Albert VanBrocklin.     Visitation will be held Monday, August 3, 2020, from 5-7 PM, at Beacon Cremation and Funeral Service, White Lake, Chapel, in Whitehall. Private graveside services will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to ALS Foundation of Michigan, Harbor Hospice, or the American Heart Association.
