Mr. Ellis Wayne Bickel, age 87, of Hart, passed away Friday, March 13, 2015. He was born December 7, 1927, in Hart to Russell and Gladys (Leak) Bickel. On May 3, 1946, Ellis married Clara Powers in Hart; they were married for sixty-four years before her passing on December 6, 2010. Ellis was employed for twenty five years as a freight hauler for Hooker Motor Freight and R & L Trucking. His delivery route took him to the Whitehall and Pentwater area with deliveries to general stores and many other businesses throughout his day. He also worked fourteen years as a mechanic for the Oceana County Road Commission, retiring in 1995. Ellis loved being around his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing and mushroom hunting. He also loved to garden. Ellis is survived by two sons: Duane (Patricia) Bickel of Hart, and Dale (Carol) Bickel of Elkhart, IN; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Hobart (Linda) Bickel of Hart. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Clara Bickel; daughter, Diane McGhan; grandson, Bruce Bickel; brother, Lyman Bickel and his special cousin, Norma Griswold. The Funeral Services for Mr. Bickel will be Tuesday, March 17, 2015, at 2:00 pm at King Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Hart with Pastor Glenn Bearss officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday one hour prior to the service at King Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Hart. Interment will take place at Elbridge Township Cemetery.
