Obituary

Elvin Curtis, age 94, was reunited with his wife Barbara, September 19, 2023.  He was born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan, graduated from Ferris State University, later earning his Master of Pharmacy degree from the University of Michigan, where he also worked for many years as the Pharmacy Manager at the University of Michigan Medical Center, from which he retired.  He also served as a pharmacist in the Navy during the Korean War.

Elvin was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; mother, Grace Curtis; and his siblings, Ruth Roorda, Dorothy Herbert, and Elaine Henn. He is survived by: his stepsons, Paul (Ronda) Pek and Jeff (Katy) Pek; as well as his grandchildren, Curtis, Christyn, Jenna, and Andrew.

Elvin was also very involved with his nieces and nephews, Linda Raymond (deceased), Mary Boluyt (deceased), Carol Deal, Abram Roorda (deceased), Janice Roorda, Diane DeMeester, Kenneth Roorda, Elaine Herbert, Don Snider, and Kathy Snider.

Elvin touched so many during his long life and will be greatly missed. He is known for his many dear friendships, his intelligence, love of travel, cooking, and gardening. He provided much entertainment with his jokes and stories and provided help and guidance for so many and was a role model to many. He loved to strike up conversations with strangers and learn about their lives.

There will be a small, private burial ceremony for Elvin, and a Celebration of Life to be scheduled at a later date.
