Emma Jean Andersen, 87, of Ludington, passed away Monday, September 25, 2017 at Oakview Medical Care Facility.  She was born March 10, 1930, in Chicago, Illinois to Hershal and Gladys (Robinson) Anders.  She grew up in Flint, graduating from Flint Northern High School in 1948.  She married Arthur L. Andersen on September 2, 1950.  They spent 57 years together before his death in 2008.

Jean had many jobs over the years. In her younger years she was a telephone operator, she worked at Oakview Medical Care Facility in the activities department and for many years she was a clerk at Nichol's Drug in Scottville, as well as Lewis Drug in Ludington.  She also worked at Seasons on the Shore in Ludington.  She was a proud Scottville Clown Band wife and enjoyed traveling and spending time with the many friends and family that she and her husband made while traveling with the band.  One of her favorite places to go was Mackinaw City to stay at "Tony's". She also enjoyed collecting clowns, crocheting, sewing, doing cross word and word search puzzles, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband; infant daughter, Deborah Jean; parents; brother, Hershal Jr.; and two sisters, Betty Walden and Leonora Ratliff.

She is survived by: her daughters, Janice (Kurt) Jones of Claremore, Oklahoma, Cheryl (Teddy) Hernandez of Ludington, and Sandra (Sergio) Renteria of Phoenix, Arizona; 11 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren with three more on the way.  She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Ruth Frost and Mrs. Alvin (Carol) Benson and one brother-in-law, Roger Andersen, all of Ludington, and several nieces and nephews, and many friends.

The family would like to thank the entire staff at Oakview Medical Care Facility for the LOVING care that Jean received throughout the last 10 years while living there.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, October 4, 2017, at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, Pere Marquette Chapel, 309 S. Washington Ave., Ludington, with Reverend William E. Huether presiding.  Interment will follow in the Lakeview Cemetery.  Visitation will be held Tuesday, from 6-8 PM, at the funeral home.
