Mr. Epifanio Lopez, age 73 of Shelby, died Friday, May 23, 2008. He was born January 20, 1935 in Donna, Texas to Juan and Rosa (Trevino) Lopez. In 1955 in Kentucky, he married the former Olga Fierros and she preceded him in death in 1995. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and was employed as a handyman with Oceana CAAP. He is survived by his children, Daniel (Janie) Lopez of Katy, TX, Charles Epifanio (Sandra) Lopez of Katy, TX, Anna Marie (Steven) Rathburn of Shelby, Edward (Josephine) Lopez of Holland, MI, Christine Lopez of Katy, TX and Catherine Lopez of Battle Creek, MI; 17 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Ysabel Lopes and Porifirio Lopez, both of Strawn, TX; 7 sisters, Felicita Cantu of Detroit, Louisa Vela of New Era, Paula Lopez of Shelby, Tina (David) Silva of Grand Rapids, Inez (Jack) Parker of Kentucky, Sally Lopez of Grand Rapids and Rosemary (John) Paullus of Grand Rapids. In addition to his wife Olga, he was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sons, Jose, Ralph and Raymond Lopez; 2 grandsons, Jose Lopez, Jr. and Ricky Gonzales; 1 great grandson Sebastian Gonzalez. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at 9:00 A.M. from St. Joseph Catholic Church-Weare with Fr. Ronald Schneider presiding. Interment in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Visitation Sunday 7-9 P.M. and Monday 2-4 & 7-9 P.M., where the Scripture Service will be held Monday at 7:30 P.M at the Tate-King Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be directed to the funeral home for family expenses.
