Erin Suzanne Cater, 42, of Ludington, Michigan, went to her in eternal reward in heaven at 6:13 p.m., May 27, 2019, surrounded by her family and friends after she lost her battle with brain cancer. She was born Oct. 1, 1976, in Pensacola, Florida, the daughter of Elaine (Harrington) Cater of Ludington and Richard T. Cater of Texas.

Erin graduated Ludington High School in 1995.

Erin was kind and generous, and had a passion for helping others. With her faith in the Lord, she touched and guided many local children and families. She felt very strongly about making a difference and helping out her community. Everyone who met Erin loved her and embraced her as a part of their own family.

She loved the Lord and had a devotion to the Blessed Mother, always sharing her faith and love with the children and families she cared for and all people she met. Erin was an advocate for children and animals, loved photography, especially capturing moments of the people she loved the most.

Despite her failing health, Erin remained faithful, positive, outgoing and fun-loving. She was grateful for the support of her family and friends who assisted in her pilgrimages to Lourdes (France), Fatima (Portugal) & the Apparition with Mirjana & Our Lady of Medugorje (Bosnia/Herzegovina).

Erin is survived by her mother, Elaine (Harrington) Cater; her father, Richard (Trish) Cater; her siblings; Carolyn Cater of Ludington, Michael Cater of Grand Rapids and Theresa (Greg) Heseltine of North Carolina; and step-sisters, Cherie McCorvey of Texas, and Melissa (Adam) Sanchez of Virginia; and her Godson, Franklin Karboske.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 1, 2019, at St. Simon Catholic Church in Ludington, with Father Wayne B. Wheeler presiding. Interment will be in the Pere Marquette Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday from 6-8 PM, at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, Pere Marquette Chapel, 309 S. Washington Avenue, Ludington, and at the church on Saturday from 10:00 AM until time of Mass.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family to help with final expenses.
