Mr. Ernest C. Beverlin "Jim", age 88, died Sunday, December 3, 2006. He was born January 31, 1918 in Peru, Iowa to Omer and Kate (Clark) Beverlin. He married the former Elaine Joan Husted in Nashua, Iowa. Mr. Beverlin was employed as a pipe layer for Natural Gas Pipe Laying Company in Iowa. He served his country in World War II in the US Navy, aboard the USS California, as a third class gunner's mate in the Pacific Theatre. He was a member of the Battleship League. While residing in Mears, he attended the Shelby Road Baptist Church and while in Iowa, he had attended the First Christian Church. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Elaine and their daughters, Rebecca Joan (Tom) Rickhoff of Mears and Marsha Ann (Ben) Vampatella of Inverness, FL; 7 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 1 brother, Carroll Beverlin of Winterset, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Eugene Clark Beverlin and 3 brothers, Corwin, Dale and Bob; 4 sisters, Lorraine, Lois, Reva, and Bernice. The Funeral Service for Ernest will be held Saturday, December 9, 2006 at 10:30 A.M. from the Kale Funeral Home in Truro, Iowa. Interment in the St. Charles Cemetery, with full military honors.
