Ernest F. "Nute" Figge, Jr., 84, of Branch, passed away April 8, 2013 after an illness of several months. He was born August 5, 1928, in Muskegon County to Ernest F. and Alta L. (Smith) Figge, Sr. He married Marie DuPerron on March 9, 2007, and she survives. Ernest retired from the US Navy as Petty Officer, 1st Class, after serving thirty years. He was a member of the VFW Peacock Post # 5315 in Baldwin and the American Legion Edwin H. Ewing Post #76 in Ludington. He sailed on over ten destroyers during his thirty years in the Navy, including the USS Edmonds DE-406 and the USS Bridget DE-1024. Surviving with his wife Marie are his daughter, Pam (Jim) Libolt; granddaughter, Dawn Galentine; great-grandchildren, Seth Jr. and Hanna Lee Galentine; sisters, Barb Davis and Aileen (Jack) Kooi; step-daughter, Lisa (Robert) McCann; step-son, Robert Bates and his friend, Carla; step-grandchildren, Aleatha (Bryan) Akerley, Kristen Duggan, Andrew Bates, and Jordan Bates; step-great-grandchildren, Caiden, Rykder, Daitona, Lilly, and Aleah; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers. There will be no services and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Muskegon, MI.
