Obituary

Ernest Jay Larson Sr., of Montague, passed away on May 21, 2026, at the age of 70.

Born on June 8, 1955, in Shelby, Michigan, Ernest was the son of Walter and Katie (Sealy) Larson. He spent his life pursuing knowledge, nurturing his interests, and caring deeply for his family. In 1976, he married the "girl next door," Andrea Harwood, beginning a loving partnership that spanned nearly five decades.

Ernest had a lifelong curiosity and passion for learning. He enjoyed reading and watching movies, especially science fiction, and was always fascinated by technology. He loved tinkering with electronics and computers, turning his interests into educational pursuits by attending trade school for electronics in the 1990s and later earning a college education in computer studies during the late 2000s. His inquisitive mind and determination to continue learning were qualities admired by those who knew him.

Above all, Ernest cherished his family. He found great joy in spending time with those he loved and took pride in watching his family grow through the generations.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Andrea Larson; his sons, William Larson and Ernest (Kay) Larson II ; grandchildren, Calvin, Jay (Emily), and Dakota; and his brother, James Larson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Katie Larson; his sisters, Sue and Mary; and his brother, Thomas Larson.

Ernest will be remembered for his intelligence, quiet determination, love of technology, and devotion to his family. His memory will be treasured by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
