Ernest Joseph Montroy Jr, 93, of Kewadin, passed away Friday, November 19, 2021.

Ernest loved fishing and hunting; and everyone knew him for his big garden, which he would share the proceeds of with family and friends.  In his later years, he loved his wild birds that he fed daily and also the deer that would visit.

Ernie was always quick with a story of one escapade or another.  He was friend and mentor to many of his family and friends.  He will be missed more than anyone will ever know.

He is survived by: his children, Lisa Montroy, Wayne Montroy, Lori Montroy, and Lana Malkowski; and his girlfriend of 32 years, Pearl. Also surviving are: his grandchildren, Lori Ann Melzer, Nathan Burkholder, Sabrina Williams, Travis Williams; seven great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; brother, Fred (Betty) LaFave; and sister, Lois (Dennis) Mashainski.

A celebration of life party for family and friends will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, June 4, 2022, the AmVets Post #114 in Elk Rapids, Michigan.

Beacon Cremation and Funeral Service, Covell-Elk Rapids Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
