Esther Irene
Wascher
Nov 14, 1940 — Oct 21, 2026
Muskegon, MI
Esther I. (Seiler) Wascher
Esther Irene (Seiler) Wascher, 85, formerly of Williamsport, Pennsylvania, and more recently of Muskegon, Michigan, passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at DaySpring Assisted Living.
Born November 14, 1940, in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, Esther was the daughter of the late Harvey F. and Helen A. (Hinkel) Seiler. She was a 1959 graduate of South Williamsport High School.
On December 10, 1960, she married D. Frederick "Fred" Wascher. Together, they shared more than six decades of marriage before Fred's passing on August 22, 2022.
Humble and endlessly giving, Esther devoted her life to caring for those she loved, always putting the needs of others before her own. She believed that food was love, and no visitor ever left her home hungry or without being offered a hot cup of coffee. She especially enjoyed making whoopie pies and pumpkin rolls, which she generously shared with friends and family. She had a special place in her heart for animals, particularly her beloved dog, Oscar. She never liked saying goodbye, insisting instead to end every parting and conversation with the words "I love you," making certain those she loved never had reason to doubt it.
Esther is survived by her two children, Dr. Darrin Wascher (Dina) of Linden, Pennsylvania, and Debi Hillebrand (Dr. Greg) of Whitehall, Michigan; her three granddaughters, Ashley Newton, Lyndsay (Shawn) Huerbin and Allix Hillebrand; six great grand children; several nieces and nephews and her faithful canine companion, Oscar.
In addition to her husband, Fred, she was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Grace Rhone, Pauline Davenport, and Lois Doebler Smith and her grandson, Ryan Jasper.
In accordance with Esther's wishes, no funeral or memorial services will be held. Memorial contributions may be made in Esther’s name to Lycoming County SPCA.
Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, White Lake Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
