IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ethelwin Mae
Czarny
December 19, 1930 – August 9, 2024
Ethelwin Mae Czarny, 93, passed away Friday, August 9, 2024, peacefully in her sleep. She was born December 19, 1930, in Nunica, Michigan. She was the daughter of Apolis and Florence (Withey) Griswold.
On August 29, 1953, Ethelwin married Edward Czarny. They had four children and spent 41 years together.
Ethelwin attended school in Nunica. She left school after completing the 8th grade to help support her family, as her father had passed several years prior. She later obtained her GED with her friend Maxine. After school, she was a stay-at-home mom until her youngest started school, then she worked at Kysor of Cadillac in Rothbury, until her retirement.
Ethelwin enjoyed cooking. She was known for her AMAZING pies, especially the crust! She enjoyed volunteering at the American Legion and VFW Clubs in Whitehall and Montague and was a friend to many of the members there. She loved traveling to visit her grand kids in Colorado, trips with her girls to many of the eastern and southern states, roller skating, and was an avid reader before vision issues made it too difficult.
Ethelwin is survived by: her children, Deborah Czarny (Mike Daly), Joe Czarny (Becky), Dick Czarny (Nerita), and Sally Galarneau (Bob); sister-in-law, Veronica Flynn (Denny); Grandchildren, Megan (Gary) Pena, Jacob Hickman, Chelsey (Ross) Ruiz, and Adam Czarny (Sophia Noel); great-grandchildren, Anthony Pena, Mariah Pena, Rowan Sayers, and Lilly Noel; and many nieces and nephews.
