IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Evelyn Rose
Clark
February 2, 1924 – January 26, 2024
Evelyn Rose was born on February 2, 1924 in Detroit, Michigan and died on January 26, 2024, just one week short of her 100th birthday. She was the daughter of John and Rose Langeveld; a first generation American as her parents had immigrated from The Netherlands and Austria, settling in Detroit when her father took a job with the then U. S. Rubber Co.
In 1944, she married Robert (Bob) Clark who was a radioman in the U. S. Navy. After his discharge in 1945, they too settled in Detroit with their firstborn, Beverly; soon to be followed by son John (Jack). Bob was also employed by U. S. Rubber which eventually became UniRoyal. Two more children completed the family; Barbi in 1952 and Kimberly in 1965.
When Bob retired, they moved to Elbow Lake (Prescott, Mi) where they lived on "Golden Pond" until 2005. In 2009, after Bob's death, Evelyn relocated to Elk Rapids, MI where she enjoyed a wonderful "new life", "new friends" and "unexpected experiences".
Our wonderful mom loved her husband dearly, lovingly raised four children while often working outside the home as a secretary and various other positions but always the ultimate homemaker. She was a "model mom" for all who knew and loved her; related or not, and the family was often referred to as the "Beaver Cleavers" (from the TV show Leave It To Beaver).
Evelyn was a resident of MeadowBrook in Bellaire, MI where she was loved and cared for by wonderful people and, until she died, was still involved in lots of activities and enjoyed card games with friends.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, her brother John, her husband Bob and her daughter, Barbi.
She is survived by daughter Beverly McCamman, son John Clark and daughter, Kimberly Clark, grandchildren John Clark Jr., Haley Beahm, Brad Fick, Ed Yonce and Stephen Hart and great-children.
We salute you, Mom/Evelyn, and we were truly blessed by your presence in our lives; be it birth, life or situations – you will always be The Icing On The Cake of our Lives.
Private family services will be held, and her ashes will join those of her husband at Ft. Custer in Battle Creek, Mi.
The family requests that memorial donations be made to the Antrim County Commission on Aging.
