Mrs. Evelyn Louise Powers, age 99, of Hart, passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at Cherry Blossom Manor in Hart.  She was born August 26, 1917, in Pentwater to August and Helen (Helander) Hansen.  Evelyn was a 1935 graduate of the Pentwater High School. She married Virgil Powers in Hart on October 2, 1938 and he preceded her in death on March 15, 2006. She was co-owner with her husband Virgil of the Powers Clothing Store.

Evelyn was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, was a member of the Hart Congregational UCC Church, where she taught Sunday school and sang in the church choir.  Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.  She and Virg spent many years at their winter home at Anna Maria Island, Florida and their summer home on Pentwater Lake.

Evelyn is survived by three sons: Michael (JeanAnn) Powers of Hart, Rick (Greta) Powers of Fremont, MI, Denny (Sue) Powers of Hart; Danish Son, Axel (Mette) Schmidt of Copenhagen, Denmark; ten grandchildren, Todd Powers, Tim (Ann) Powers, Kara (Scott) Youmans, Erica (Myles) Weitzman, Richard (Lori) Powers, Rachel (Robert) Llanes, Elizabeth Powers, Scott (Christine) Powers, Kim (Charles) Wright, Jeff (Lindsey) Powers; sixteen great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Virgil Powers, two brothers Roland Hansen, Wilbur Hansen, one sister, Eleanor Fold.

The Funeral Service for Mrs. Powers will be Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at 2:00 pm at the Hart Congregational United Church Of Christ with The Rev. Dan Barnum-Steggerda officiating. Interment will be in the Hart Cemetery.  Visitation will be Monday from 3 to 5 pm at King Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Hart and Tuesday one hour prior to the service at the Church.  The family requests that any memorials be directed to Hart Congregational United Church of Christ, 408 South State Street, Hart, MI 49420
