Evelyn "Evie" Clair Reid, 80, of Whitehall, died Saturday, December 27, 2025, at American House in Spring Lake. She was born November 15, 1945, in Brooklyn, New York, the daughter of Angelo and Dolores (Grefe) Perna.
Evie graduated from Muskegon Catholic Central in 1963. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who enjoyed cooking, hosting weekly Sunday family dinners, cleaning and gardening. She also enjoyed traveling, including her summer long hiking trips to Wyoming, and the trips to California to visit her brother and sister. Evie was very active in fitness and had taught exercise classes at the White Lake Yacht Club for several years. Evie also helped with the visiting nurses program for many years. Most of all, Evie loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
On April 20, 1962, in Muskegon, Michigan, Evie married Paul Reid, who survives her. She is also survived by: 7 children, Cathy Reid, Aileen Nyquist, Erica (Tim Tuttle) Reid, Adam Reid, Amber Reid, David (Jessica) Reid, and Eli (Daisy Genson) Reid; 12 grandchildren, Derek (Bria Giesler) Nyquist, Casey (Tim) Bazany, Brittany (Dave) Kennedy, James (Rachel) Cousins, Hannah (Jordan Voogt) Taghon, Riley Short, Landon Short, Jori Reid, Jack Reid, Emilia Reid, Addison Reid, and Drake Reid; 2 great-grandchildren, Isabella Bazany and Mia Bazany; her brother, Robert Perna; her sister, Marilyn (Lynette Williams) Perna; her sister-in-law and great friend, Karen Bernard; and life-long friends and travel companions, Bonnie and Dan Dillivan.
Evie was preceded in death by two sons, Paul Reid Jr. and Brandon Reid.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, January 2, 2026, at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, White Lake Chapel, with Rev. Timothy Dibble officiating. Interment will be in Oakhurst Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday from 1:00 PM until time of services at the funeral home.
