Mrs. Faye E. Dorrell, age 90, of Hamlin Township, Ludington, passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2012, at Memorial Medical Center following a brief illness. She was born May 27, 1921, in Chicago, IL to Henry and Fay (Streeter) Fleischauer. At the age of 2 she moved with her family to Lincoln, Michigan, where she grew up and attended school graduating from Harrisville High School at the age of 16. At the age of 17, she taught school in a one room school house. She married George E. "Bud" Dorrell, Jr. on February 6, 1944 and he preceded her in death on June 16, 2010. The couple enjoyed 66 years together. Faye was an avid golfer and longtime member of Lincoln Hills Golf Club, where she won numerous championships. She accumulated six holes- in-one over the years. She also enjoyed skiing and playing tennis. For a number of years she enjoyed deer hunting and bagged her buck numerous times. She and Bud loved to float the Pere Marquette River trout fishing. More recently she enjoyed watching the birds come to the bird feeder on the deck and doing crossword puzzles. She and Bud spent many winters at the Landings in Ft. Meyers, Florida where they enjoyed their friends, tennis and golf. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Ludington. Faye is survived by one son: G. David (Carol) Dorrell of Ludington, MI; daughter-in-law, Becky Dorrell of Grand Rapids, MI; her grandsons, Mike (Naoko) Dorrell and Logan Dorrell, both of San Diego, CA; her granddaughter, Libby Dorrell of Mt. Pleasant, MI; her great grandson Ken Dorrell of San Diego, CA and her sister In law, Cecile Fleischauer of Baltimore, MD; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, her son Jeffrey in 2006, two brothers, William and Arthur Fleischauer, and one sister, Betty Johnson. The Funeral Service for Mrs. Dorrell will be Saturday, February 25, 2012 at 11:00 am from St. John's Lutheran Church in Ludington with the Rev. Thomas V. Boehne officiating. Interment in Lakeview Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday one hour prior to the service at St. John's Lutheran Church. The family requests that any memorials be directed to St. John's Lutheran Church.
