Florence Winifred Thomas, of Brighton Beach, New York and Michigan, was born August 25, 1921 in Hart, to Keith and Ethel Sutherland. She left this Earth on August 3, 2014 from her home she loved at Brighton Beach, New York. She was 92 years of age and lived a life full of family in Michigan, friends in New York, yoga and reflecting about life. Florence worked as an accountant for the Acme Safe Company in New York. She enjoyed painting, writing poems, loving cats, biking the boardwalk, and scrabble parties. She traveled the world and was an inspiration to her family to love life and to always keep learning. She received her diploma from Kingsbury College at the age of 77.

Preceding her in death were her husbands, Walter Alfredson and Richard Thomas, her father, Keith Sutherland, mother, Ethel VanBrocklin (Sutherland) Brunk, sisters, Patsy Sutherland, Lorraine Sutherland, Bonita (Bonnie) Sutherland, Frieda Cunnagin, and her children, Sharron Gail Anderson and Robert Dale Thomas.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Nellie Thomas of Interlochen; niece, Sandy (Len) Cunnagin-Sixt of Tampa, Florida; her eight grandchildren, Jeffery (Donna) Anderson of Colorado; Sheryl (Michael) Miller of Montague; Robert Anderson Jr. of Muskegon; Bob (Amy) Thomas of Interlochen; Michael (Julie) Anderson of Shelby;Tim (Amy) Thomas of Traverse City; Melissa (Andrew) Johnson of Copemish; and Laura Anderson of Montague; sixteen great- grandchildren, Richard Jobbins, Michael Jobbins, Scott Anderson, Nicole (James) Skuse, Jessica Jobbins Lake Kelley, Kurt Anderson, Stephen Jobbins, Katie (Richard) Moseler, Miranda Johnson, Ashley Johnson, Michelle Thomas, Matthew Thomas, Christopher (Lynn) Twork, Brandon VanderMey, Hunter Cruthers, Kiera Davis; nine great-great grandchildren, Chasey Lake, Lillis Lake, Miles Jobbins, Mercedes Jobbins, Marleigh Jobbins, Richard Moseler, Kailyn Skuse, Eric Skuse, Brynn Leigh Thomas,Summer & her sister Twork.
The funeral service for Mrs. Thomas will be held Saturday, August 16, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. at King Funeral Home in Hart with Pastor Mark Baker officiating.Visitation will be at the funeral home from 12:00 noon until the time of service. Interment will take place at the South Hart Cemetery.
