Mrs. Frances Lena Bedker, age 100, of Ludington, passed away Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at Oceana County Medical Care Facility in Hart.  She was born August 11, 1916, and was adopted by her aunt and uncle, Anna and Nels Petersen. Frances lived on the family farm in Summit Township for most of her life. She married Paul Bedker, and they enjoyed 67 years of marriage, until Paul's passing in February 2005. For the past few years, Frances has made her home at the Pine Crest Adult Foster Home. The family would like to thank Michelle and Wanda, for their great care and friendship.

Frances attended French School and graduated from Ludington High School, which was in the building that is now Foster School. During her lifetime, she worked for Jebavy-Sorenson, The National Bank of Ludington and also helped her husband on their farm. Each summer, Frances would sell cherries and cherry pies at the family roadside cherry stand. She made lots of cookies, especially molasses cookies, pies and peach cobbler, which were Roger's favorites. Frances enjoyed working with her flowers and playing cards with her friends. She was an animal lover, and always had a grand dog or grand cat on her lap.

Frances is survived by one son: Roger (Mary) Bedker of Ludington; son in law, Charlie Ash of Cedar Springs, MI; four grandchildren, Megan Bedker, Kathleen Mayes, Karen White and Charlie (Elaine) Ash, Jr.; several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Paul Bedker, daughter, Paula Kay Ash, grandson, John Ash.

The Funeral Service for Mrs. Bedker will be held Friday, April 28, 2017 at 11:00 AM from King Funeral Home & Cremation Services with the Rev. Norman Letsinger officiating. Interment will be in the Summit Township Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 10:00 AM until time of service at the funeral home.
