Mr. Frank G. Steiger, 85, of Pentwater, Michigan, passed away Monday, August 4, 2014, with his family present. Frank was born January 1, 1929, in Detroit, Michigan. Frank joined the Detroit Police Department in 1951 and was assigned to the 4-man cruiser at the 4th Precinct. In 1968, he was promoted to Detective and worked the hold-up squad at police headquarters. In 1970, he was promoted to Sergeant in the Detective Bureau. He retired in 1976 after serving 25 years with the department and was awarded 50 merit citations. In 1978, he worked for the Oceana County Sheriff's Department as the marine officer, road patrol officer, and formed the first sheriff's posse. He also served on the Pentwater Fire Department for 10 years. In 1983, he became the Police Chief for the Village of Pentwater and retired in 1993. He was Constable for Pentwater for 10 years, retiring in 2008 and served on the Pentwater Council for 8 years. Frank served in law enforcement for a total of 42 years. Frank co-chaired the group for the development of the Channel Lane Park and in 1993 he was the co-founder of the Lighthouse Lutheran Church.

Frank is survived by his loving wife Pauline; daughters, Sandy (Wally) Wierzbicki, Laurie (Dave) Gillis, and Gayle (Al) Nelson; step-sister, Muriel Ronayne; 8 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Lou Eder.

The Funeral Service for Mr. Steiger will be held at Hart High School on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Ronald Cox officiating. Interment will be in Pentwater Township Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the King Funeral Home in Hart.
