Obituary

Mr. Fredrick R. Jobbins, age 77, left his earthly home Monday, January 11, 2010 and entered his eternal home in Heaven, which God has prepared for him. He was born in Pentwater on December 30, 1932 to Henry and Irene (Holmquest) Jobbins. On October 17, 1955, he married the former Betty Phillips in Crown Point, IN. Fredrick has worked many places during his lifetime. He started out working with his father as a painter, driving school bus for the Pentwater Public School District and was a maintenance worker. He also worked at the Oceana County Sheriff's Department as a turn key and dispatcher. He was a volunteer fireman with the Pentwater Fire Department. He was also self employed and started the Jobbins Construction Company, where most of his sons had worked. Fredrick retired from his life's work in 2005. Fredrick was proud to be an American and had served his country in the Korean War and had received the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Pentwater V.F.W. Post 6017. He was nominated Pentwater Citizen of the Year and had served on the Pentwater Planning Commission. Fredrick is survived by his wife of 54 years, Betty Jobbins of Pentwater, their nine children, Jesse (friend Loretta Stewart) Jobbins of Pentwater, Fredrick (Cheryl) Jobbins of Manistee and Irons, Henry (Nancy) Jobbins of Pentwater, Allan (Tammy) Jobbins of Haines, Alaska, Tracy Jobbins of Hart, Jerry (Cheryl) Jobbins of Pentwater, Larry (Kim) Jobbins of Lake Villa, IL, Betty Lynn (Robert) Woodbury of Hart, Danial (friend Michelle) Jobbins of Hart; twenty nine grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; sister, Betty McClain of Scottville; many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Ruth Eyestone and June (Cremmer) Isaacson. The Service of Praise and Thanksgiving for Fredrick's Salvation through Jesus Christ will be held Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. from the Shelby Road Baptist Church with Pastor Robert McNeil officiating. Interment will be in the Pentwater Township Cemetery at a date and time to be announced later. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be given to the Missions Fund of the Shelby Road Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society.
