Obituary

Deloris Allen, 81, of Traverse City, passed away on Monday, January 10, 2022, at Orchard Creek Skilled Nursing Center.

De was born on July 13, 1940, in Springfield Township, Kalkaska County, Michigan, to Orris Edward and Gwendolyn Marie (Sewell) Williams. She graduated from Manton School District. She worked with her dad on her family's farm for many years. De was never afraid of hard work, and she owned and operated several adult foster care homes throughout her life. After she retired, she spent her winters in Florida and summers with her family and friends in Northern Michigan. Once she retired, she also got her puppy Blackberri and loved that dog very much.

One of her favorite pastimes was berry picking, she was picking berries up until she got sick this last summer. She was a very creative person; she enjoyed sewing and in her later years she exceled at painting pictures and making jewelry. She also enjoyed scrapbooking and paper crafting.

She loved being a grandmother and then becoming a great-grandmother. She was very proud of the fact that we were able to take 5 generation pictures with both of her parents. Even though she loved all her grandchildren and great grandchildren, she was especially close to her oldest great-grandson, Jason. They spent the last 21 years spending a lot of time together and talking at least weekly. They enjoyed going to breakfast and lunch together as much as they could while she was home during her summers.

De was preceded in death by her parents, Orris Williams and Gwen Tibbits; sister, Lois Williams; husband, Jerry Allen.

De is survived by: her children, David (Debbie) Snyder of Kalkaska, Lorie (Steve) Stacy of Fife Lake, and Fern Snyder of Florida; grandchildren, Jennifer (Randy) Hoy of Traverse City, Brandon Crowley of Florida, Russell (Heather) Stacy of Wisconsin, David Crowley of Fife Lake, Courtney Crowley of Fife Lake, Stephen (Yiqian) Stacy of Walled Lake, Allison and Dawson Snyder of Kalkaska; great-grandchildren, Jason Stacy of Lansing, Abigail Stacy of Traverse City, Elizabeth and Lillian Hoy of Traverse City, Ella Stacy of Wisconsin, and Emma and Alex Stacy of Walled Lake, MI. She also leaves behind many other close family members and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 PM, Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, Covell-Kingsley Chapel.  A luncheon will follow at American Legion Post #219, M-186 in Fife Lake.  Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until time of services at the funeral home.
