IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Galvin Xavier
Love, Jr.
September 22, 1940 – January 16, 2026
Galvin Xavier Love Jr., affectionately known by most as Skip, age 85, of Montague, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 16, 2026. He was born on September 22, 1940, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Galvin Sr. and Dorothy (Roesler) Love.
Galvin developed a love for music at a young age and especially enjoyed playing the guitar and singing throughout his life. He dedicated himself to serving others, first as a soldier in the United States Army and later as a police officer. One of his cousins captured his spirit perfectly, writing, "He walked the thin blue line and stood on the front lines, but he found his peace in the rhythm of a horse's gallop and the strings of a guitar."
Galvin is survived by: his daughters, Kimberly (Mark) Dershem of Montague and Kristin (Bill) Boike of Fremont; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by: his brother-in-law, Jerry (Marla) Thoma, their three children, and many loving cousins too numerous to count.
He was preceded in death by: his wife of 44 years, Terry Lynn Love; his parents, Galvin Sr. and Dorothy Love; and his parents-in-law, Mildred and Glenn Thoma.
In accordance with Galvin's wishes, cremation has taken place, and interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Montague.
Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, White Lake Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
